(212) 668-6000David Zwerin has spent his entire legal career representing injured New Yorkers — and he came to it with a clear sense of purpose. He learned early that nothing worthwhile is achieved without a relentless work ethic, and he brings that same standard to every case he handles at Hill & Moin LLP, where he has served as Senior Trial Counsel since 2016.
David earned his J.D. from the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University and is admitted to practice in the State of New York. Before joining Hill & Moin, he gained formative experience working alongside the founder of a plaintiff’s personal injury firm in lower Manhattan, where he worked on a wide range of injury cases from the ground up. That early training included assisting on a traumatic brain injury case against the New York City Transit Authority in which the plaintiff was awarded $16 million — an outcome that shaped how David approaches every case he takes on.
His practice is focused entirely on people who have been hurt through no fault of their own. He represents construction workers, accident victims, pedestrians, and anyone who has been seriously injured because a property owner, employer, driver or institution failed in their duty of care.
“Insurance companies will do everything possible to pay an injured victim as little as possible. At Hill & Moin, we carefully review every aspect of a client’s case and determine a legal strategy tailored to give that client the best possible chance to maximize their financial recovery.”
Over the course of his career, David has handled hundreds of personal injury cases across New York City and the surrounding area — from initial consultation through settlement negotiations and, where necessary, trial. His core areas of practice include:
Construction remains one of the most dangerous industries in New York, and workers who are injured on the job are often entitled to significant compensation under New York Labor Law — particularly Sections 240 and 241, which impose strict liability on property owners and general contractors for certain types of falls and hazardous conditions. David understands how these statutes work and how to apply them effectively on behalf of injured workers.
If you were hurt in a scaffolding accident, a ladder fall, a heavy machinery incident or any other construction site injury, David can evaluate your case and explain your options at no cost.
Property owners in New York have a legal obligation to maintain reasonably safe conditions. When they fail — through neglect, poor maintenance or indifference — people get hurt. David has represented clients injured on wet and slippery floors, broken sidewalks, dangerous stairways, malfunctioning elevators and snow and ice-covered surfaces. He knows the notice requirements, the deadlines and the evidence needed to build a strong premises liability case in New York.
New York’s roads are among the busiest in the country, and collisions happen daily. David represents clients injured in car accidents, taxi and rideshare crashes, and pedestrian knockdowns. These cases often involve multiple insurance policies and disputed liability — David knows how to navigate that complexity and pursue every available source of compensation.
Serious injuries at work can upend a person’s life in an instant. Beyond workers’ compensation, many injured workers have the right to pursue additional claims against third parties — contractors, equipment manufacturers or property owners. David helps clients understand the full picture of what they may be entitled to and builds a strategy accordingly. Learn more about workplace accident claims at Hill & Moin.
